Our University ranks among the top 30 universities in Germany as has been revealed in a survey published by the “Centrum für Hochschulentwicklung” (CHE). The University offers 18 Bachelor and 12 Master programs in technology, economy and social sciences. Lectures and seminars in small groups ensure intensive tutoring, focusing on problem & project-oriented learning.
Since 2011 the faculty of Social Work, Health and Nursing offers a unique bachelor’s of science programme in nursing. The students complete a traditional vocational nursing programme of three years and in parallel study one day a week during term time. After having successfully passed their state exam at the end of three years of vocational training in nursing, they continue studying for another three semesters to complete the bachelor’s programme (altogether 9 semesters) and obtain a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
A prerequisite for participating in the nursing programme is a training contract between the students and one of the five hospital-organizations who cooperate with the University of Applied Sciences: South Wuerttemberg Center for Psychiatry (ZfP Südwürttemberg), Alb-Donau-Kliniken (ADK), Medical Campus Lake of Constance with its locations in Friedrichshafen and Tettnang, Oberschwabenklinik Ravensburg and Waldburg-Zeil Clinics. All five hospital-organisation are cooperating with the Health Academy of Lake Constance-Upper-Swabia, which is based in Weingarten and where the vocational training takes place.
